![]() ![]() INXS inxs elegantly wasted michael hutchence tragic last albums just wow it's bittersweetĪ few years back I did a rundown of my TOP TEN ALL TIME FAVOURITE BANDS, the ten bands that MOST made me the (relatively) well-rounded music fan that I am today (granted, a lot of it’s rock and metal, but there’s other stuff in there too), and it was good. Michael Hutchence was clearly such a vital, intrinsic part of what made INXS so special, there’s no way it could be ANY GOOD … ![]() It’s very much like when I rediscovered Big Country - it just won’t be the same with any other vocalist. I know the rest of the band carried on afterwards, they’ve got two more albums to their name after this one, but I really don’t think I can continue beyond Elegantly Wasted. It’s particularly clear that Hutchence was still at the peak of his talent and had a real love for the music they were making … ![]() It’s a genuinely sobering experience listening to this record with such startling hindsight - it’s a proper banger, a really strong, powerhouse rock album from a band were clearly still VERY MUCH in their musical prime, they hadn’t yet had A CHANCE to go downhill in the quality of their music. For example, currently I’m on INXS’ Elegantly Wasted, their final album before Michael Hutchence tragically lost his life. Sometimes, doing these musical discovery deep dives can be SUCH A HEARTBREAT when the music’s really great, and you have to remember an inherent tragedy in the band’s story. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It’s better to read them all in order to get the full story. This is the last installment of the Sin & Seduction series. It’s always a pleasure to read something by Ms. Her writing style is clean and precise, it just has an easy flow. Review: First of all, let me say I am a huge fan of this author. Life looks grim for the Sin & Seduction crew, and it will take something close to a miracle to save them all. Couple that with the urgency of saving jobs, and Jason’s stress level skyrockets into the red. Their lives are consumed with raising Brad’s little girl. Meanwhile, Jason’s relationship with Brad has turned surreally domestic. His belief that love is a myth is high on that list. ![]() But Lance can’t consider a future with someone else until he faces the issues that have kept him out of relationships in the past. Holiday romance perfection!! Snowed In with the Player is vibrantly festive, feel good charm! Rebecca Jenshak gives us the perfect balance of heart and heat, with just the right dash of emotional tension and holiday fun. The perfect holiday novella to add to your list! ![]() They were just so sweet I couldn’t get enough. Reading about Holly and Teddy had me consumed. I think I received this book at 10pm and stayed up until 1am reading it because I could not put it down. We also get a taste of who/what the next holiday novella will be about and I am so excited for more of these characters! SiwtP is a holiday novella, set in the Valley U world, so it’s a pretty quick read, but we do get mentions of our favorite Jenshak created college and a little dose of a hero I think is a future MC. There’s also the perfect dash of holiday spirit to get even the most Scrooge-y reader in the mood, the holiday mood of course. Snowed in with the Player gave all the cozy vibes, while also being a sweet “stranded together” with my brother’s best friend, who I’ve been crushing on, romance. What was it?ĭon’t give up. DARK TIDE is my ninth novel, and I’m very fortunate in that all the books I’ve written have been published. I worked for ten years on my first novel, and when it was finally done, it was rejected by pretty much every publishing house in New York! It eventually did sell, I’m happy to say, thanks to my agent Simon Lipskar at Writers House, who never gave up on the book. How long or hard was your road to publication? How many books did you write before this one, and how many never got published? Do that, and then fuss - because you have to make the story, before you can make the story good. I’ve learned to push hard to get the first draft done - and to keep going no matter what, even if parts of the story are messy, incomplete, or downright lame. ![]() ![]() To meet my deadlines, I’ve had to change the way I write and stop fussing endlessly about every word, sentence, and paragraph… in the first draft. ![]() ![]() Jennifer, what did this book teach you about writing or about yourself?ĭARK TIDE, and all the Waterfire books, are on a much faster publishing schedule than I’ve ever dealt with. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yet there are those who find opportunities amongst the ruin. ![]() The Age of Madness certainly reflects all that this book stands for. Anyone with wealth and prosperity are brought under a knife’s edge and they must either willingly denounce their status or face a long fall from grace. Much like during The French Revolution, the time of Social Revolution has finally come and the oppressors have become the oppressed. On the cover of my ARC the words Chaos, Fury and Destruction dominate, and these are apt words, civil war ravages throughout the lands and the ‘Great Change’ is fully upon the citizens of the Union, for better or worse. Before I began this book I was apprehensive about what kind of ending these beloved characters would meet, but I needn’t have feared, say one thing for Abercrombie, say he knows how to create a show-stopping finale! The Wisdom of Crowds by Joe Abercrombie is the last book in the Age of Madness trilogy, and for now at least, marks the end of our time within the world of the First Law. ‘Wisdom is not a premium, madness is the fashion, the balance sheets are all torn up and the friends that were assets have become liabilities.’ Vic kept walking, ‘Threats for tomorrow don’t cut very deep when today is so damn threatening.’ Please note this review will contain spoilers for A Little Hatred and The Trouble with Peace, but it is spoiler free for The Wisdom of Crowds. ![]() |
